June 3, 2025

Dr. Victor AcostaVictor Acosta has been chosen by the College of Arts & Sciences as one of this year's Regents' Lecturers. Victor will receive a stipend for the next three years and will always keep the title of Regents' Lecturer.

Among Victor's extraordinary achievements are the creation of a summer research program in quantum science aimed at undergraduates in New Mexico, a $3M NSF training grant to create a new graduate certificate in quantum photonics and quantum technology called QPAQT. And on the research side, a long list of prestigious awards including a Google Faculty Research Award, a Beckman Young Investigator Award, an NIH NIBIB Trailblazer Award for New and Early Stage Investigators, a Cottrell Scholars Award, an NSF CAREER Award, and more recently, an extremely selective Director’s New Innovator Award in NIH’s High Risk, High Reward Research Program.

In service, too, Victor has taken on intensive leadership roles in the department, especially in our graduate programs.

Congratulations to Victor on this great honor!
