The Particle Physics Project Prioritization Panel (P5), a decadal strategic planning exercise based on input from the Particle Physics Community, released their final report last year. The report sets priorities for the field and lays out a strategic plan to address them. Among the report’s recommendations is an aggressive R&D program toward a cost-effective 10 TeV pCM collider based on proton, muon, or possible wakefield technologies. The proposed accelerators would require beyond state-of-the-art superconducting magnet technology. This talk will look at current accelerators, the P5 proposed accelerators, and the superconducting magnet technology required to achieve these future accelerators.
